DagangHalal, the world’s first global e-marketplace to address the need for Halal verification, announces an update on the claim made by former CEO Mohamed Hazli Mohamed Hussain.
As announced on 2 February 2017, despite receiving the full amount of compensation due under his service agreement when it was terminated in October 2016, Mr Hussain made a claim under Section 20, Industrial Relations Act 1967. Such claims are not uncommon in Malaysia and if successful can result in an award to the claimant of up to two times their annual salary which would be equivalent to approximately GBP195,000.
Mr Hussain has now filed a rejoinder and the parties will meet on 10 April 2018 in an attempt to reach a settlement. If no settlement is reached, the case is will be heard on 18 & 19 October 2018.
The Company intends to fully defend the claim and will provide further updates as matters progress.
