What is Halal?

In Islam, the word Halal in general means permitted, allowed, authorised, approved, sanctioned, lawful, legal, legitimate or licit. Essentially this signified that a product or service is created in adherence to the Islamic principles of Shari’ah laws. Products and services that are not Halal are deemed as haram, which means forbidden, or prohibited. Products and services that fall under this category are not consumable as they may not merely be unlawful, but also unsafe or lacking in quality or hygiene.

What does DagangHalal exactly do?

What are Certification Bodies (CBs)?

There are over 120 active institutional Halal certification bodies worldwide. They provide verification or Halal certification to preserve the sanctity of Islamic Shari’ah laws, auditing all processes and parties involved in the value chain of a specific product or service.

What is JAKIM?

JAKIM is a Malaysian Government Agency and world leading certification body for Halal products certification standards. This is evidenced by the fact that 73 international Certification Bodies (“CBs”), out of 122 active international CBs, adhere to the standards set out by JAKIM

How can I purchase or sell DagangHalal PLC shares?

To purchase or sell shares in the DagangHalal, you should contact your broker or sharedealing service, in the same way as if you were buying shares in any company traded on the DagangHalal PLC’s markets.

Can anybody buy shares in the DagangHalal PLC?

Yes. Like most listed companies anyone can purchase shares in the DagangHalal PLC.

Is membership of the DagangHalal PLC and ownership of shares the same thing?

No. Any person can purchase shares in the DagangHalal and by doing so become a shareholder of DagangHalal Group plc. However, membership of the DagangHalal is restricted to those firms that are able to satisfy the criteria for membership set out in the Rules of the DagangHalal PLC.

Is stamp duty payable on transactions in DagangHalal PLC shares?

Yes. As DagangHalal Group plc is incorporated in Jersey, stamp duty on share purchases is payable at the normal rate for all UK registered companies.

How are transaction in DagangHalal PLC shares settled?

Transactions affected on SETS, our electronic order book, are settled three business days after the transaction takes place (T+3). Transactions are settled in CREST, in the same manner as for the majority of UK securities listed on our markets.

If I want a share certificate, can I still get one?

If you would like to receive a share certificate, our registrars will send one to you. However because share transactions are settled in CREST, you can hold your shares in uncertificated form if you wish to do so.

What is your dividend policy?

It is the current intention of the Directors to retain its cash to develop the business and achieve capital growth. Accordingly, they do not intend to pay dividends in the immediate future. The declaration and payment by the Company of any future dividends and the amount of them will depend upon the Company’s financial condition, future prospects, profits legally available for distribution and other factors deemed by the Board to be relevant at that time.
